Major Capital Schemes - Monaghan

Monaghan Main Drainage Scheme
It is proposed to carry out improvements to the Monaghan Town Waste Water Collection System, in order to provide an adequate collection system for the town and its environs for the next 25 years.
The works shall consist of remedial and relieving works to the existing Monaghan Town Collection System, including the Old Cross Square / Municipal Treatment Works Pumping Station and extensions to the Monaghan Town Collection System drainage network.
The Monaghan Town Collection Scheme Project will be funded through the Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government (DEHLG) and Monaghan County Council.

Old Armagh Road Service Land Initiative
The Old Armagh Road / Latlurcan Road catchment area lies to the South east of Monaghan Town. It is bound to the West by St Macartan's cathedral and to the east by the N2 bypass.
 The complete SLI includes the provision of 2,536 meters of foul sewers, 1783 meters of storm sewers and a 7000 population equivalent pumping station adjacent to the Old Armagh Road.  This scheme will service existing development along the Old Armagh Road as well as up to 200 acres of new development lands that are zoned for future development.


North East Service Land Initiative
The North Eastern area Collection system will provide sewage services in the Coolshannagh / Ballyalbany catchment area, which is located in the North Eastern Area of Monaghan Town.
The complete SLI will provide sewer services for an estimated 100 acres of undeveloped lands. This area will accommodate up to 600 housing units. Pierse Contracting and Response Engineering have been appointed as Contractors, scheme due for completion by Autumn 2009.
