Monaghan County Council Arts Acts Grants Scheme 2010
The Arts Act 2003 empowers local authorities to directly assist the development of the arts locally through:
(a) Stimulating public interest in the arts,
(b) Promoting knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts,
(c) Improving standards in the arts
These awards are designed to financially assist groups/ organisation and events in their delivery of arts projects in County Monaghan.
In this act the expression “arts” means any creative or interpretative expression (whether traditional or contemporary) in whatever form, and includes, in particular, Visual arts, theatre, literature, music, dance, opera, film and architecture and includes any medium when used for those purposes
Applications for awards are processed once each year, and are approved by the County Council. The list of recipients will be published
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS : 4th March 2010
The maximum amount awarded to any project will be €1,500, however it is expected that most awards will be in the region of €800. It is envisaged that this scheme will yield 10 awards annually. The total funding available under this scheme is €10,000.
