Known Problems
 
The site is not displaying in a red outline when I draw it?
After you click the Draw Site option, a red outline should appear as you draw the proposed site. If this is not the case there could be a problem with the Compatibility Setting on your web browser

Check which version of Internet Explorer you have installed on your pc 

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Select help
  • Select About Internet Explorer - this will display the version you are using.

For Internet Explorer Version 8

  • Open the Website www.monaghan.ie/ssps
  • Click on the Page Menu option on the top right hand side of the IE8

  • If this is not available click on the Tools menu, then click to select the option Compatibility View. If the Tools menu is not displayed, press ALT to display the Tools menu.


For Internet Explorer Version 9

  • Open the Website www.monaghan.ie/ssps
  • Click the Compatibility View button that is located directly to the right side of the address bar next to the Refresh button.
  • If this is not available click on the Tools menu and then click to select the option Compatibility View. If the Tools menu is not displayed click on the Cog Wheel on the top right hand corner of the page   and Select the Command Bar Option
 
 

Nothing happens when I click View the Generated Reports?

If you have any problems getting a report from the system, your Internet Explorer settings may have popups blocked.  How do I disable the popup blocker?

Check which version of Internet explorer you have

    • Open Internet Explorer
    • Select Help
    • Select About Internet Explorer - this will display the version you are using.

For Internet Explorer Version 6

  1. The address bar will display the message "Popup blocked.  To see this popup or additional options click here
  2. When you click on this, you have the option to "Always allow popups from this site" - Select this option
  3. Draw the boundary of your proposed site again and the report should appear in a new popup window

Note:  If you have the google toolbar, you will also need to change the settings on the toolbar to allow popups - see below

For Internet Explorer Version 7

  1. Select Tools
  2. Select Popup Blocker
  3. Select Allow Popups for this site
  4. When the message "Would you like to allow popups from www.monaghan.ie, select yes

Note:  If you have the google toolbar, you will also need to change the settings on the toolbar to allow popups - see below.

For Google Toolbar

  1. Select the blocked icon on the toolbar which displays "Click this button to allow popups from www.monaghan.ie"
  2. The button should now display "Popups ok"

Map Window

Click on the arrow buttons surrounding the map window to move the map in different direction.

Click the following arrow buttons to move the map in the direction indicated:

Map Tools

This toolbar show what level the map displayed in the Map Window is zoomed in at. It enables the user to zoom in or out on the map just by clicking either the +, – symbols or the Zoom Level Indicator buttons. There are five preset zoom levels with preset features on each level.

Zoom Level 1 displays the county map with the county boundary, national and regional roads and the towns/villages.

Zoom Level 2  

Zoom Level 2 displays the discovery mapping for Monaghan, with the county boundary and the development limits for the towns and villages for a distance of 10Kms.

 Zoom Level 3  

Zoom Level 3 displays again the discovery mapping for Monaghan with the county boundary and the development limits for the towns and villages for a distance of 2.5Kms.

Zoom Level 4  

Zoom Level 4 displays the 2003 aerial photography for Monaghan with the county boundary, townlands and the development limits for the towns and villages for a distance of 1Km. You can draw your proposed site at this zoom level.

Zoom Level 5  

Zoom Level 5 displays the county boundary, townlands and the development limits for the towns and villages for a distance of 300m. However depending on where you are zoomed in on, will dictate which mapping will be displayed. If you are zoomed in on an urban area (town/village) you will see the 2008 low flown aerial photography however if you are zoomed in on a rural area you will see vector mapping. You can also draw your proposed site at this zoom level.

Legend

Map Legend

The Legend section details the features, and they’re styles, that are visible on the Map Window. You can switch on/off a feature that is displayed on the map window by simply ticking/un-ticking the box beside the feature name and the map window will be refreshed with that feature added/removed. E.g. To remove the regional roads from the map window un-tick the box beside Regional Roads on the Legend section and the map window will refresh with the regional roads removed as shown below.

Search Facility



The Search section enables you to search for a particular townland. Type in the name of the required townland or a partial townland name in the box provided. Click the Search button and the townland will be displayed in the Results Window. You can search on partial townland names and a list of the townlands, similar to that requested, will be displayed on the Results Window.

If you have typed in a townland name or partial name in the Search section and clicked the Search button, the townland or a list of all townlands fitting your search criteria will be displayed in the Results window.

Click on the   icon in the Results Window to refresh the map on the Map Window and the requested townland will be highlighted in a turquoise colour.



“How do I ?” Questions

How do I zoom to the location of my proposed site?
You can zoom to a location by either clicking on the Map Window to zoom in on a location or by carrying out a townland search.

How do I zoom in to a particular location on the Map Window?
If you point to or hover over, using your mouse, the towns/villages feature on the Map Window, a tooltip will appear with the town/village name, which should help you get you bearing. You can zoom in on a location by simply clicking in the vicinity of that location on the Map Window. The Map Window will refresh to the next zoom level in the Map Tools section. Clicking again on the Map Window in the location you are interested in will again refresh the Map Window to the next zoom level in the Map Tools section, and so on until you have reached the final zoom level where you will see, on the Map Window, vector mapping in the rural areas or aerial photography in the towns and villages.


How do I search and zoom to a Townland?

Search Townland

On the Search section, type in the name of the required townland or a partial townland name in the box provided. Click the Search button and the townland will be displayed in the Results Window. You can search on partial townland names and a list of the townlands, similar to that requested, will be displayed on the Results Window.

Then click on the Go Icon  icon in the Results Window to refresh the map on the Map Window and the requested townland will be highlighted in a turquoise colour. You can then click on Map Window in the vicinity of your proposed site or simply click the + or – symbols on the Map Tools section Map Tools Image to zoom to the next or previous zoom level.



How do I draw my proposed site and produce my report?

You should already have zoomed to the location of your site on the Map Window. You must also be at either Zoom Level 4 Zoom Level 4 or Zoom Level 5 Zoom Level 5 on the Map Tools section to be able to draw your proposed site.

Click the Draw Site selection on the Pre-Planning Options section.

Using the left click button on your mouse click, on the Map Window, the first corner of your proposed site. Then left click again on the Map Window each corner of your proposed site. A red line will be displayed on the Map Window which shout reflect your site boundary as you are drawing it.

When finished use the right click button on your mouse to complete the site boundary and the site will now be displayed in blue. If you have drawn your site incorrectly just click the Clear button on Pre-Planning Options section and then left click again on the first corner of your proposed site on the Map Window and redraw your site.

Once the site boundary had been completed click the Submit button in the Pre-Planning Options section.

If you wish to create a report for your proposed site:

  • Click Ok when asked on the pop up message ‘Do you wish to create this Report?’
  • Then ‘Click Here to View Report’.

Or if you wish to return to the map and not view the report then click on the text ‘Click Here to Return to Map’.



How do I email my proposed site and report?

If you would like to email yourself or someone else the report that you have just generated then fill in your/their email address in the space provided on the report as shown below:

You will then receive an email with a link to the SSPS application which when you click on the link it will open the SSPS application and reshow the site that you had previously drawn.



How do I recreate a report of a site that I had previously drawn?

When you create the initial report for your proposed site a reference number will be displayed on the top left hand side of the report. Take a note of the Report No and Password.

If at a later stage you want to recreate the report for your proposed site, click the Search button on the Pre-Planning Option section of the SSPS application and enter the Report No and Password into the spaces provided and the Map Window will refresh to reproduce the site that you had previously drawn and the report.

How do I move the map within the Map Window?

Click on the arrows surrounding the Map Window to move the map North, South
East or West. For a further direction description on each arrow please see the Map Window section above.

How do I zoom in and out of the map on the Map Window?

You can zoom in on the map by simply clicking directly on the Map Window in the location you are interested in and the Map Window will refresh to the next zoom level. Alternatively you can click the + symbol on the Map Tools toolbar of any of the zoom level indicator buttons to zoom in on the map. If you wish to zoom out on the map simply click the - symbol on the Map Tools toolbar or any of the zoom level indicator buttons and the Map Window will refresh to the zoom level that you selected.

Hover or move the cursor/mouse over the Map Window in the vicinity of a town or village to quickly display the Town/Village names at Zoom Level 1 as shown above or hover/move the cursor/mouse over the Map Window at Zoom Levels 4 & 5 to display the Townland name as shown below.

Find the perimeter of my proposed site.

While you are drawing your proposed site the accumulative perimeter will be displayed in the Perimeter box on the Pre-Planning Options section. The length of the last segment drawn (the distance between the last two points) will be displayed in the Segment box and the length of the current segment that you are currently drawing will be displayed in the Current box. This value will vary as you move the mouse around on the screen.

Once the site boundary has been drawn/completed for your proposed site the total perimeter will be displayed in the Perimeter box on Pre-Planning Options section.

Find the report reference number on the report created for your proposed site, in order to be able to see/use it again e.g. for a pre planning meeting.

Once you have generated your report the reference number on the report will be displayed on the top left hand side of the report (indicated at no. 2) and this will enable you to reproduce your report and proposed site again.

Restart the Application

If at any stage you loose your bearing on the map just click the Restart button on the Map Tools toolbar and the application will refresh to the County Map showing the town and villages locations (Zoom Level 1).
