Instructions - How to use gPlan

Application Functionality

gPlan Map Tools

This toolbar show what level the map displayed in the Map Window is zoomed in at. It enables the user to zoom in or out on the map just by clicking either the +, – or Zoom Level Indicator buttons.


Legend

This legend window details the features, and they’re styles, that are visible on the current map on the Map Window.


Search Facility

 

gPlan Search Facility

This section enables you to search for a particular Townland or a particular Planning Applications Number. Select the option you want to search for, by selecting either ‘Townland’ or ‘File Number’ from the drop down list. Then type in the Townland name or the Planning Application Number and click the Search button. The Townland or details of the Planning Application will be displayed on the Results Window.

If you have selected Townland for your search a list of all townlands fitting your search criteria will be displayed in the Results window.

 

gPlan Results

Click on the Go Icon icon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to display the selected townland.

Planning Application Search

If you selected File Number a brief description of the Planning Application will be displayed.

 

gPlan Results

Click on the Go Icon icon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to zoom to the location of the selected Planning Application.

To view a more detailed description of the Planning Application click on the underlined Planning Application Number, under the File Number heading, in the Results Window. This will bring you to the ePlan enquiry screen of the selected application.


Useful Tips

 

Useful tips, hovering over to quickly display the Town/Village/Townland names or Planning Application Numbers

Hover the cursor/mouse over the Map Window to quickly display the Town/Village/Townland names or Planning Application Numbers.

Click on Planning Application Points or Sites on the Map Window to quickly display the details of the Planning Application in the Results Window.

How do I zoom in and out of the map on the Map Window?

Simply click the -,+ or Zoom Level Indicators buttons on the Map Tools Section to zoom in and out on the map in the Map Window. There are six preset Zoom Levels with preset features on each level, as shown below.

Level 1 displays the county map with the County Boundary, National and Regional Roads and the Towns/Villages

 

Map Zoom Level 2

Level 2 displays a map of Monaghan, again with the County Boundary, National and Regional Roads and the Town/Villages

 

Map Zoom Level 3

Level 3 displays the discovery mapping with the Town/Villages, Townlands and Planning Application Points

 

Map Zoom Level 4

Level 4 display the SixInch Raster mapping with the Town/Villages, Townlands and Planning Application Sites

 

Map Zoom Level 5

Level 5 display the 2003 aerial photography with the Town/Village and Planning Application Sites

 

Map Zoom Level 6

Level 6 displays the 2003 aerial photography at a lower scale with the Town/Village and Planning Application Sites

 


How do I do a search on a Townland?

 

Search Townland

Select the Townland Option from the drop down list on the Search Section and type in the name of the required Townland in the box provided. Click the Search button and the townland will be displayed in the Results Window. You can search on partial Townland names and a list of the townlands, similar to that requested, will be displayed on the Results Window.

Then click on the Go Icon icon to refresh the map on the Map Window and the requested townland will be highlighted in a turquoise colour.

How do I do a search on a Planning Application Number?

 

Search By Planning Number

Select the File Number option from the drop down list box on the Search Section and type the Planning Application number in the box provided and click the search button.

A brief description of the planning application details will appear in the Results Window. Click on the Go Icon icon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to show that particular Planning Application site which will be highlighted in a turquoise colour. To see a more detailed description of the Planning Application click on the Planning Application Number (under the File Number heading) on the Results Window.

How do I see planning applications for a particular town/village?

Because the Zoom Level Indicator option automatically zooms to the centre of the current map displayed on the Map Window we need to place the Town/Village that you are interested in, at the centre of the Map Window screen. To do this hover the mouse over the town/village you are interested in, on Zoom Level 1 of the map on the Map Window, until the arrow icon changes to a hand icon and the town/village name is displayed, as seen below. Once this happens click on the town/village.

The name of the Town/Village should then be displayed on the Results Window. Click on the Go Icon icon to centre the Town/Village on the Map Window. The Map Window will be refreshed and the Town/Village will be a highlighted with a turquoise colour and it will be at the centre of the Map Window as below.

Then just select the Zoom Level you wish to see using the -,+ or Zoom Level Indicator buttons on the Map Tools section as below.
